Several of my far away friends have been on me to post a tour of the house. I have to say, looking at my hastily taken photos prior to moving in, I don’t know if it captures the essence of it. And the yard, oh the yard, trust me when I tell you that you have to see it to really get it. It is to die for, seriously. Lucy, my niece, affirmed again yesterday that it is the BEST yard and we can do EVERYTHING here. I quite agree. But back to that tour…
This is the tour the day after closing. A mostly empty house. You can see the spaces and I’ll give you a little guide as you go.
Be assured it already looks a lot different with furniture and boxes now… and a few rooms painted, etc. But here’s the official “BEFORE” house tour:
This is the view in the front door … the living room
to your right in the front door, there’s a door to the basement and garage, and then a doorway to upstairs.
Here you can see the doorway to go upstairs on the right and the doorway into the dining room on the left.
Coming full circle, there’s the front door
You’ve just come from the living room- this is the dining room- to the right is the double doorway into the kitchen, and straight ahead is the bedroom.
- You’re looking from the doorway into the first floor bedroom and the patio door is to the left (kitchen is to the right)
Dining room view from the kitchen. You can see the living room doorway to the left and the patio straight ahead. Basically, all doors come off the dining room. (More on that later)
Check out this awesome combo of wood paneling on the bottom and beadboard on top. This wall (on either side of the kitchen doorway) is slated for removal
This is the first floor bedroom. It comes off the dining room. Not large but has two closets and ample room. And it has a marvelous view, especially first thing in the morning.
Here’s the bedroom mid- paint job. I love this color! and this room! Some day I want this to be a little reading or sewing room, for now, as it is the only bedroom with heating and cooling vents, I shall sleep there
Bedroom (now painted periwinkle)
The kitchen!! (the laundry room door is over by the fridge, the bathroom door is just before that wall you can see on the left)
Here’s the laundry room, right off the kitchen. and the back door.
Back door… and notice to the left in the photo, a window… where is this window looking? you might ask
Right into the bathroom of course! Who doesn’t want a window into the toilet?
There’s the bathroom on the other side of the window
More bathroom– love the shelving in here. And yes, the toilet IS rather short and so is the sink. Weird.
Let’s go back to the living room and upstairs shall we?
Looking in the door way of the first bedroom from the top of the stairs. Straight ahead is the closet, and then the bedroom is there to the right (both closets are in the hall upstairs- not in the bedrooms themselves).
Upstairs bedroom #1. Small but has a nice big window and good light and it sports the only ceiling fan in the house.
Then you go down the hallway (in that lovely peach color)
Into the larger of the upstairs bedrooms- the one I call the Cave. It only has a tiny window and feels dark. I want to add at least one huge window on the back wall. Hmmm
More of the cave. Try not to look at the gross carpet.
And last but not least, the basement. Nothing awesome about it. Old, musty, Michigan basement.
Finally, I’ll leave you with the view off the deck….
And hey look, two really cute dogs!!
Sorry this was so long, just wanted to give you a very thorough tour. Next up: House with furniture and boxes. And projects… oh the many projects…
